Armbrella is a mobile-first fitness & wellness platform where everyday users discover certified coaches, subscribe to tiered workout/nutrition plans, track daily progress (steps, water, calories, weight), join challenges, and share short videos in a safe, moderated feed while coaches run their business end-to-end with client plans, sessions, messaging, and a revenue dashboard. A single web admin reviews coach credentials, moderates content, manages subscriptions and reports, and oversees transparent payouts. Payments are simple: users buy plans via App Store/Play; coaches are paid monthly via Stripe Connect with clear ledgers.

Problem Statement
Building Armbrella meant combining fitness tracking, social content, and coaching monetization—each with unique technical risks. Finding a free, compliant music API suitable for workouts was non-trivial. Moderating a social feed at scale required AI-based safeguards to prevent unsafe content. AI calculators had to be accurate and interpretable, not just technically correct. Synchronizing multiple daily metrics (steps, calories, weight, water) into real-time graphs added further complexity.
Solutions
We evaluated and integrated compliant audio sources suitable for fitness use cases. An AI-powered moderation layer was introduced to flag and manage unsafe content automatically. Wellness calculators were tested against edge cases to ensure realistic outputs. We built a robust aggregation layer to sync fitness data in real time, ensuring dashboards and graphs always reflected accurate user progress—making Armbrella reliable for both users and coaches.
Technical Architecture
A comprehensive fitness ecosystem where users achieve wellness goals while coaches build sustainable businesses. React Native mobile apps connect to Nest.js backend with MongoDB database. Next.js admin panel manages content moderation, subscriptions, and coach payouts. App Store/Play Store IAP handles user subscriptions, while Revenue Cat Connect processes monthly coach payments with fitness tracking, social feed, challenges, and workout program features.
