Problem Statement
A major issue in the GemMate system is the possibility of triggering emergency escalation based on outdated data. If alerts are sent using last week’s mood or social inactivity without checking the user’s current progress, emergency contacts may be notified even when the user has already started improving. This can feel intrusive and reduce user trust in the app.
Solutions
Before sending any emergency notification, the system must validate the user’s current-week behavior. Escalation should only occur if negative mood patterns and lack of social interaction are still ongoing in the present cycle. This ensures alerts are accurate, responsible, and trust-safe.
Technical Architecture
A mental wellness companion that promotes emotional health through smart mood tracking and emergency support validation. React Native mobile app connects to Supabase backend for mood tracking and social connection data. Next.js admin panel provides aggregate analytics without exposing individual user data. Real-time validation system checks current-week behavior before triggering emergency escalation to contacts, ensuring accurate, trust-safe alerts with subscription management (Free, Premium, Family).
