Problem Statement
PentaEye’s global footprint made attendance tracking deceptively complex. Employees checking in across regions faced timezone inconsistencies, where location-based APIs failed to reflect accurate timestamps. This caused attendance records to appear incorrect across business locations—an unacceptable risk for payroll and compliance-sensitive workflows.
Solutions
We implemented a device-time–first attendance model, capturing the user’s local device time at check-in and normalizing it server-side using UTC offsets. This removed dependency on unreliable location APIs and ensured consistent, timezone-accurate records across all regions. The result was a reliable, globally scalable attendance system trusted by multi-location businesses.
Technical Architecture
A multi-business operations platform that solves timezone challenges through device-time-first attendance tracking. React Native mobile app and Next.js admin web connect to Supabase backend for multi-business operations management. Device-time-first attendance model captures local check-in times, normalizing server-side with UTC offsets for timezone-accurate records. AWS Amplify hosts the platform, while SendGrid handles email notifications for business operations, employee tracking, and task management across multiple locations.
